Students Celebrate Christmas with Saint Nicholas Party
A newer club on campus is helping to foster faith and celebrate the Christmas spirit.
Campus ministry and the Center for Faith and Justice formed Gathering in Faith Together earlier in the semester. Meetings started in September, when students came together for trivia and dinner and to learn more about the history of DeSales.
Each GIFT gathering starts with members writing anonymous prayer intentions on a notecard. At the end of the meeting, everyone takes an intention and prays for that person and their prayer throughout the week.
“In previous years, we had Ladies in Faith Together and we also had a men’s group. This year, we joined the two groups and formed a coed group called GIFT. We thought it’d be a cool and immersive faith-based group where we could talk about different faith topics, have fun, and meet new people.”
On December 6, GIFT hosted a Saint Nicholas Christmas Party. Students enjoyed breakfast for dinner, played trivia, had good conversation, and participated in a white elephant gift exchange.
Other GIFT events throughout the semester included Cool Nights and Fall Fires, where students gathered on the Campus Mall, roasted marshmallows, and engaged in conversation about their faith.
Members also learned more about Blessed Father Louis Brisson during a Brisson and Bowling event, and they participated in the Red Sand Project, which was held during Human Trafficking Awareness Week.
