Let Freedom Read: Banned Books Week at Trexler Library

Trexler Library

This week, Trexler Library is celebrating the freedom to read with their “Let Freedom Read” Banned Books display located in the library lobby.

Banned Books Week is held from October 1-7 and encourages readers, teachers, and educators alike to read materials that may have once been censored, challenged, or banned. Each year, libraries and education systems face challenges against the materials they have in their collections because they contain profanity, LGBTQ+ representation, racism, etc. Trexler Library’s goal is to ensure everyone has the freedom to read the books they choose without fear or repercussion.

Our display features dozens of titles, including classics such as “1984,” “Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl,” and “To Kill a Mockingbird,” as well as popular fiction and children’s literature.

Celebrate your freedom to read by checking out a banned book today!
