DSU Celebrates Spirit Week
Students rolled up their sleeves for service projects, a scavenger hunt, and more during DSU’s first-ever Spirit Week.
The fun started on Monday, April 19—dubbed DSU Day because the letters DSU correspond to the numbers 4/19/21 in the alphabet—with food trucks and a campus-wide scavenger hunt. Eggs were hidden all around campus with participants following DeSales’ Instagram page for clues. Winners were treated to gift cards to the Inside Scoop and DeSales bookstore.
Tuesday featured the Senior Soiree and Spirits and late-night bingo, while students celebrated Bulldog Appreciation Day on Wednesday with cake, cupcakes, and photos with the bulldog.
“Students have been through so much this semester,” said Andrea Guarino ’14, assistant director of student engagement and leadership for events. “We wanted to give them something different and exciting to lift their spirits.”
Students marked Father Greenfield Day on Earth Day with service projects, including making T-shirt totebags and dog toys. The Green Team also handed out reusable straws and free succulents.
“It’s a plant in everyone’s room, so it’s a cute thing to do,” said LeeAnn Markwalter ’22. “We have a lot of different environmental initiatives going on to spread awareness about how important it is to take care of our planet.”
Spirit Week wrapped up on Friday with a virtual Relay for Life.
