Open Education Week at Trexler Library
This week, March 1-5, is Open Education Week, a time to raise awareness for and highlight open education around the world. Open Education refers to educational opportunities and resources that are freely accessible, often online. This includes online courses that do not have admission requirements and Open Educational Resources, freely available learning tools like textbooks. Many of these resources are available under Creative Commons licenses, a copyright license that allows resources to be freely shared if used for educational purposes.
If you’re interested in learning more about how to use Open Educational Resources (OERs) in your class, check out Trexler Library’s OER Guide. It explains how OERs work and provides ample suggestions for adapting OERs to your courses. If you would like to adapt an OER for your course but are unsure of where to start, ask a librarian at reference@desales.edu. We’re happy to help you find and integrate OERs into your courses.
