Girls on the Run Finishes Another Successful Season at DeSales
In honor of Global Running Day, we’re giving a big shout out to the faculty, staff, and students who donated their time and energy to volunteer for Girls on the Run.
The team, comprised of 18 girls in grades three through five, met every Monday and Wednesday from March until June on DeSales’ campus.
Kat Lehman, technical analyst; Jessica Faurl, PA program assistant; Sarah Nytroe, associate professor of history; and Janelle Hill, communications specialist, volunteered as college coaches, along with DeSales students Jennifer Blandino and Kaelyn Storr.
"Girls on the Run is such a positive experience for the development and self-esteem of young girls,” says Lehman, a first-time college coach. “Being a part of it and watching these amazing youngsters grow and achieve their goals was a phenomenal experience. I am so thankful that DeSales supports this program; GOTR and programs like it are critical for developing confident girls who grow into confident women.”
Established in 1996, Girls on the Run is a non-profit organization that inspires girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum, which creatively integrates running.
