Sue Richter and Derrick Wetzel Named Employees of the Year

Congratulations to Sue Richter and Derrick Wetzel on receiving the 2019 Staff Employee of the Year award! Richter is a custodian in the Gambet Center and was selected as the Support Staff Employee of the Year. Wetzel is dean of enrollment management and was selected as the Professional Staff Employee of the Year. 

In her 24 years working at DeSales, Richter states, “I enjoy meeting and working with so many nice co-workers, employees, students, and friends.” 

She started as a housekeeper and throughout the years she worked at Comny, Tocik, and Aviat Halls, as well as University Heights. Richter then became custodial staff and worked at Trexler Library before moving her way into the Gambet Center. 

Wetzel graduated from DeSales University in 2002 and was determined to get his MBA in business. He has been working at DeSales for 15 years—first as an admissions counselor in financial aid before working his way up to dean of enrollment management. 

“I am humbled and honored to receive this award and it is something that I will never forget,” Wetzel says. 

Richter and Wetzel were recognized during DeSales’ Service Excellence Dinner, along with other staff members celebrating milestone anniversaries.
