DeSales to Honor Veterans with Veterans Day Ceremony
DeSales University will once again honor the nation’s veterans with a Veterans Day ceremony on Monday, November 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Plaza.
The ceremony is open to the public and a reception will follow in the Veterans Lounge in Dooling Hall.
The DeSales University Chorale, Southern Lehigh High School Band, and American Legion Post 397 in Hellertown will all take part in the ceremony. DeSales students Patrick Sorrentino, a United States Marine Corps veteran, and Haley Aversa, United States Army, ROTC, will participate in the laying of the wreath, along with Wayne Hodge, an ROTC student who’s active duty in the United States Army.
“We shouldn’t forget those who sacrificed for our country or their families,” says Joann Haws, assistant dean of lifelong learning.
Shannon Dodson, a United States Air Force veteran and president of DeSales Vets for Vets, a newly created student veterans’ organization, will also say a few words during the ceremony. DeSales Vets for Vets is a chartered chapter of Student Veterans of America, a non-profit organization that’s focused on addressing the needs and concerns of military veterans in higher education.
