Local Musicians Featured at John Paul II Arts Event

The Salesian Center for Faith and Culture at DeSales University continues to honor Saint John Paul II with its annual memorial Arts & Culture series event.

This year the Salesian Center welcomes local musicians Austin Nick Piel and Maddie Hallman to campus. The event will take place on Tuesday, April 3 at 7 pm in the DeSales University Center on the University's main campus in Center Valley. This event is free and open to the public.

Piel is a young musician from Center Valley, Pa. who has been singing since he could speak. Piel's love for music and performance sparked in middle school, winning the 2015 Freddy Award for his performance in the Southern Lehigh play The Drowsy Chaperone. Piel studies computer science at the University of Maryland.

Hallman is a junior at the University of Pittsburgh. She's currently pursuing a psychology degree with a music minor. Hallman plans to become a therapist in an addiction program utilizing music as a form of therapy.

The John Paul II Memorial Arts & Culture series is a celebration of the life and legacy of Blessed John Paul II (1920-2005). The Salesian Center sponsors this annual event focusing on the beauty of the arts (music, drama, poetry, literature, etc.). The event is held annually, on or around the April 2nd date of the pontiff's death. All performances are free and open to the public.
