Nursing

1. What does the Leadership Scholarship mean to you?
It means the world. I get to pursue my dream of becoming a nurse without that financial burden, and I’m able to give back to the community, which really means a lot to me.

2. What made you feel connected to DeSales?
When I was first looking at DeSales, I really admired the smaller campus. The smaller class sizes would allow my professors to get to know me as a person instead of just a student number. It’s the people: the faculty, the staff, the club coordinators, everybody. They all want you to succeed and do well.

3. How will you continue your leadership skills at DeSales?
I’ve already joined a couple of clubs. From the beginning, I have really admired the leadership opportunities that DeSales has to offer. I’m involved with the Campus Activities Board and have helped out with some events they organized. I came to campus early for the pre-orientation program, so I was really involved with the community service and advocacy office. I joined the Green Team where we organize events to limit trash on campus and come up with other eco-friendly ways we can save the planet. I also recently became a Bulldog Ambassador, and I’ve been helping out with open houses and tours.

4. Advice for future Leadership Scholarship applicants?
Go where it feels right. Coming onto campus and just talking to everyone, it really made me feel at home and like I was a part of the community. Everybody is willing to help out. I couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else.

5. What’s your favorite thing about DeSales?
Along with the campus community, I would have to say the sunsets. Most of my camera roll from the first few days of orientation was filled with sunset pictures.
