Dr. Mary Lou Gies is an assistant professor in the Department of Nursing and Health. She has a background in various clinical settings including community/public health, medical-surgical, and maternal-infant. Her current practice is in the maternal-infant area.

Dr. Gies' teaching responsibilities include community/public health nursing in the classroom and a variety of community and outreach programs. She teaches across the curriculum in the undergraduate and graduate programs in courses such as Population Health, Epidemiology, and Biostatistics.

She received her BSN from Temple University; MSN from Villanova University, specializing in nursing education; and Ed.D. from Nova Southeastern University in higher education leadership.

Dr. Gies has published in PADONA Journal, International Journal of Human Caring, Clinical Simulation in Nursing Education, Clinics of Perinatology, and the QSEN website.
