Dr. Mahdi Tahamtan is an assistant professor in Communication Sciences and Disorders. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Speech & Language Pathology from Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences, and went on to earn a Master of Science in Speech & Language Pathology from the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences, both in Iran. He later earned his Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.

His teaching interests include Voice and Resonance Disorders, Swallowing Disorders (dysphagia), Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech Mechanism, Introduction to Communication Sciences and Disorders, etc. He is in charge of establishing and running the first Speech Lab at DeSales University. Dr. Tahamtan’s research focuses on the aerodynamic, glottographic, and acoustic characteristics of clear speech.
