Dr. Ryan is an associate professor of mathematics at DeSales University. Prior to joining the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at DeSales, she earned an MS and a Ph.D. in mathematics from Lehigh University and a BS from St. Joseph’s University in mathematics and computer science. Before entering graduate school, she worked as a software engineer at Lockheed Martin Corporation for four years to exercise her programming skills in industry.

Dr. Ryan’s research interests include graph theory and combinatorics. She is passionate about involving undergraduates in research and received a $20,000 grant from the Center for Undergraduate Research in Mathematics to lead four students in a research project during the 2016-17 academic year. The team investigated degree sequences of special graph families and then traveled to Des Moines, Iowa, to present their findings.

Dr. Ryan advises the Math Club, which has taken trips to Philadelphia, Boston, Atlanta, and NYC for mathematics-related programs and exhibits and which has designed an Escape Room for a fun student challenge. Stop by her office anytime to say “hi” or to “talk math!”
