All psychology students are required to complete 48 credit hours of curriculum courses, in addition to the university’s standard academic requirements.

Secondary Education (STEP)
If you are considering a career in secondary education, our Secondary Teacher Education Program (STEP) is designed for you. Our STEP program will help you earn a secondary teacher certification in Social Sciences for grades 7-12 from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. You will need to complete five education courses in addition to your major requirements during your undergraduate studies. In your senior year, you’ll have the opportunity to apply for the Master of Education (4+1) Program to continue on your path to certification.

Admission requirements for the Graduate M.Ed. Phase are:
- Satisfactory completion of the following five education courses during your undergraduate phase:
- The Educative Process
- Cognition and Learning
- Introduction to Exceptionality
- Literacy Interventions 4-12
- Teaching English Learners
- Cumulative GPA of 3.00; and
- Passing score on PRAXIS test
While this may seem daunting, your faculty advisor will help and assist you throughout this path.
Psychology students in their junior year who have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher are eligible to apply for the 5-Year BS/MACJ Degree Program. If admitted, you will take three Criminal Justice graduate courses during your senior year. These courses will count both towards the completion of your undergraduate degree and a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice. You will then have the opportunity to complete your Master’s in just one year.
Psychology students with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 can apply for the MBA Program at the end of their junior year. You will then get a letter of intent that will allow you to take up to three MBA courses during your senior year. You will be formally accepted into the MBA Program once you successfully complete your undergraduate degree. Afterward, you will then have the opportunity to complete your Master’s in just one year.
