Full-Time and Adjunct Faculty Opportunities
DeSales University is seeking an Assistant Professor for its Physician Assistant Program, to begin in Fall 2025. The faculty member hired for this 12-month, full-time position is mainly responsible for teaching students in the first year of the program but also includes student advising and recruitment responsibilities.
Applicants should enjoy a team-teaching concept and a dynamic, student-centered environment. One day per week release time is given for continued clinical practice. The ideal candidate will either be a physician assistant or a physician eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania. Physician Assistants should be NCCPA certified with at least 5 years of clinical experience. Physicians should be board-certified. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience. DeSales University Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program invites applications for a full-time faculty position with teaching responsibilities in the areas of neuromuscular differential diagnosis and intervention, neurologic anatomy and pathophysiology, pharmacology, and evidence-informed practice. The successful applicant will assume primary and supportive teaching responsibilities in courses that arise predominantly in the second year of our 3-year curriculum. Additional responsibilities include student advising, mentoring student research projects, development of a personal line of scholarly inquiry, and a service commitment through committee participation and community outreach activities.
Along with designated classroom and clinical laboratory space, the DPT program will share classrooms, the human gross anatomy laboratory, and a state-of-the art Simulation Center with students in the nursing and physician assistant science programs in the 77,000 square-foot Gambet Center for Business and Healthcare Education.
Qualifications
- An earned doctorate (PhD, EdD, DSc, DHS) from an accredited institution in the sciences related to physical therapy or higher education. ABD candidates and applicants with post-professional DPT and board certification in neurologic physical therapy and a commitment to engage in scholarly research will be considered.
- 3-5 years contemporary clinical expertise in neurologic rehabilitation. Board-certified clinical specialist preferred.
- Prior teaching at the university level. Experience in curriculum development and accreditation process preferred.
- Licensed or eligible for physical therapy licensure in Pennsylvania.
- Active membership in the American Physical Therapy Association.
- Rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

DeSales University’s Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders seeks to maintain a qualified applicant pool for adjunct faculty to teach courses and/or provide clinical supervision for graduate students in our state-of-the-art on-campus Clinic. Qualified applicants must hold the equivalent of a Master’s Degree or higher in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. Previous university teaching experience preferred.

The DeSales University’s Psychology Program, housed in the Division of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences, seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach the following in-person courses for the 2023-2024 academic year:
- Applied Research Methods and Design. Students learn to read and evaluate psychology research literature, design, and analyze research using SPSS, and write formal research papers in APA format.
- Senior Seminar. A preparation for moving beyond the classroom into a career. Students will learn to analyze articles with critical thinking skills and prepare a senior level project for class presentation, as well as develop a plan for their future in this field.

Full-Time Employee Benefits
DeSales University offers a choice of medical plans through Capital Blue Cross: PPO Blue Plan with a deductible ($500/$1000 maximum per family deductible), and a Qualified High Deductible Health Plan (QHDHP) with a Health Savings Account (HSA) option. The University contributes various dollar amounts toward health care premiums. Coverage is available the first of the month after a full-time employee's date of hire.
According to the DeSales University Spousal Coordination of Benefits Policy, Spouses of employees are ineligible for University coverage in any health care insurance plan if such spouse is eligible for coverage at his/her place of employment.
On October 29, 2020, the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and the Treasury finalized proposed rules regarding transparency requirements for non-grandfathered group health plans. DeSales University sponsors a self-funded medical plan. Capital Blue Cross (CBC) provides DeSales University with a Uniform Resources Locator where machine-readable files ("MRF's") for the plan will be posted publicly and updated monthly in order to view in-network provider rates for covered items and services and out-of-network allowed amounts and billed charges for covered items and services. DeSales University has added this link to its public-facing website.
DeSales University provides group term life insurance to all full-time employees. The amount of this policy is equal to 1.5 times the employee's annual salary to a maximum of $250,000 (amount reduces after age 70). Employees complete an initial beneficiary designation upon hire and may update it at any time.
DeSales University offers dental insurance through United Concordia. The employee pays the entire premium for dental care.
Regular and group supplemental retirement plans are offered through TIAA. Participation may begin on the first day of the month following employment. After one year of service, the University will contribute 8% with a minimum employee contribution of 2%. Investment options include annuity; bond fund; equity index fund; global fund; real estate fund; growth fund; money market; social choice or stock fund.
DeSales University offers employees the option to participate in a flexible spending account (FSA) through Further. This plan permits employees to pay for certain health care and day care expenses before-tax dollars. Contact human resources for complete details.
DeSales University provides a group long-term disability (LTD) policy for all full-time employees on the first day of the month following one year of continuous service. The University pays the entire LTD premium to the carrier.
