Biography

Dr. Hulse Kirby is an assistant professor of theology and the department chair for theology and philosophy. She earned her PhD in 2023 from Marquette University with a dissertation entitled, "Person and Society: The Trinitarian Anthropology of Henri de Lubac."

Dr. Hulse Kirby also holds a master's degree from the Pontifical John Paul II Institute at The Catholic University of America, and a bachelor's degree from DeSales University. She has been teaching at DeSales in various capacities since 2013. Her theological interests include the ressourcement and nouvelle théologie movements; gender, marriage, and family studies; and the writings of Pope St. John Paul II. Her most recent publication, "Seven Persistent Myths About Henri de Lubac's Theology," appeared in the University of Notre Dame's Church Life Journal. Outside of teaching theology, she enjoys spending time with her husband and stepsons, playing music with friends and colleagues, listening to records, and attending barre exercise classes.
