Class of 2028 Sets New Enrollment Record

Students in the Class of 2028 just arrived on campus and already they’re making history. 

The class, which composes 513 first-year students, has set a new enrollment record. An additional 62 transfer students have also deposited. Students arrived on Sunday, Aug. 18, for move in and to kick off Orientation 2024. 

“My sisters came to DeSales, and they had an amazing experience,” said Valeria Guerin ’28, a nursing major from Chester Springs, who is in The Tony and Norene Salvaggio Salesian Honors Program. “I wanted to make my own informed decision. But when I came here, I felt so comfortable.” 

This year’s Orientation theme is The Perfect Blend of Character and U, and events included a welcome Mass, service project, and field day competitions. For Joe Ficoturo ’28, participating in a service project packing thousands of meals for Rise Against Hunger was significant.

“In high school, my buddies and I actually created an entrepreneurship center in the city of Chester,” said Ficoturo, an exploratory studies major from West Chester, who is also on the baseball team. “We got a $30,000 grant for underprivileged kids to be able to go and do photography and make music. So this really means a lot being able to help other people.” 

Students in the Class of 2028 hail from a number of states, including California, Texas, Indiana, Virginia, and Connecticut. Thirty percent report being from a diverse background.

  • The average SAT score is 1176.
  • The average ACT score is 27.
  • The average GPA is 3.42.
