DeSales Hosts Unified Soccer Games with Special Olympics Athletes
Dozens of DeSales University students shared their time and talent with Special Olympics athletes during two unified soccer games.
Forty students and 32 athletes took to the turf field behind Billera Hall, with the athletes’ coaches and families cheering them on.
“In a world where athletes with disabilities can feel segregated and different, this event provides both our students and the Special Olympics athletes an opportunity to connect and be part of something bigger than themselves, while sharing a common love of sports,” says Alaina Neubauer, director of human resources for the DeSales Special Olympics Committee.
The unified games lead up to the Special Olympics Pennsylvania Eastern Fall Sectional, which DeSales will host for the second year in a row on Sunday, October 13.
