Early Childhood Elementary Education PreK-4

Become prepared to teach in classrooms from pre-kindergarten through grade 4. This program is available with or without a certification path. Prospective teachers who complete the initial certification program will enter the elementary education field having met all requirements for initial certification by PDE.

M.Ed. Option + Certification

Secondary Education 7-12

Do you have an undergraduate degree in Biology, Chemistry, Communications, Computer Science, English, Mathematics, Social Science, Social Studies/History, or Spanish?

If so, you could complete your certification courses and requirements in just over a year. Our streamlined program includes one full-time residency semester. Through the Teacher Intern Program, you can work in a school while earning your Master’s.

Special Education PreK-12

This program is best for those with a bachelor’s degree and experience working in special education settings as instructional aides, support staff, substitute teachers, or emergency-certified teachers. Required supervised field hours and full-semester student teaching may be earned within an eligible job setting.  DeSales has the first currently approved Special Education PreK-12 Teacher Intern Program in Pennsylvania.

M.Ed. Option + Certification

ESL Program Specialist / TESOL

According to the U.S. Department of Education's Office of English Language Acquisition, the number of students in the United States whose English proficiency is limited has grown by 95% since 1991. DeSales offers an ESL Program Specialist Certification designed by experts in the teaching of English language learners. Candidates must hold instructional certification in elementary, secondary, or world languages certification.

Social, Emotional, & Wellness (PreK-12)

Learn to facilitate social, emotional, and behavioral wellness practices and address non-academic barriers to learning. This online program is available to Pennsylvania teachers with Instructional I or Instructional II certification, as well as those with supervisory, educational specialist, or administrative certificates.

Graduate Endorsement

STEM Teacher Endorsement

Our Integrative STEM Endorsement program (approved by PDE) prepares you to design engaging STEM experiences in the classroom. Gain necessary training in theoretical, technical, and pedagogical foundations to succeed. Assignments include research,  practical applications, and facilitating student discussions. Each course also has essential field experience/job embedded activities.

Graduate Certificate

Science of Reading

This certificate is designed for teachers with teaching certifications seeking more expertise in literacy without necessarily pursuing an entire Master's degree. The four-course sequence can provide continuing education credits in the form of Act 48 credits and can count towards teachers' Instructional II certification requirements. The four-course sequence is stackable and can be applied to a future M.Ed. degree in Elementary Education or Special Education and can be completed online.
